Once the mold is manufactured, the plastic parts produced through the injection molding process can be scanned using Hexagon's Absolute Scanner AS1. This scanner captures a 3D point cloud of the part's actual geometry, which can then be compared to the 3D model of the part using Inspire metrology software.
By comparing these two sets of data, manufacturers can ensure that the produced part falls within acceptable tolerance limits. In the event of any significant dimensional deviations, adjustments can be made to the mold design to correct the issue.
